Leather Selection Suggestions

In this video we used 3oz ‘avancorpo’ vegetable tanned horse fronts sourced from Cordovan.co. The two already completed clutches were made from a 4.5oz Waxed Pull Up leather from Acadia Leather. I dont remember the exact product name but all items listed on this page will have a similar feel. It is closest to a ‘Crazy Horse’ leather. This template set can be used with a good variety of leather weights. I would suggest 3.5oz to 5oz range.

The Clutch Strap

There is no template piece included for the clutch strap. The clutch is designed for a 3/8″ wide strap to fit. You can alter this to your needs. The brown clutches have a ~26″ strap and the veg tan clutch from the video has ~30″. I think the 30″ is a better number to shoot for. It will wrap around the clutch body twice and come to an end on the front side as seen in the demo photos.

I’m puzzled by the long strap. At first I thought it would go over the person’s shoulder – but then as I watched the video (fast-forward) – it does not go over the shoulder but you are using it as a closure for the clutch purse. I’m interested in why you chose to go with such a long strap as opposed to a smaller closure? Thanks…

Thanks! Your site and products are great!
