This simple leather valet tray pattern is a clean, no-frills project designed for everyday use. It’s a great beginner-friendly build that comes together quickly and works well with a wide range of leathers, from veg-tan to soft chrome-tan.
Unlike more complex tray designs, this version keeps things minimal — straight edges, snap or riveted corners, and a wide open layout that’s perfect for holding keys, wallets, watches, or small everyday carry items. Download the free PDF pattern below and use it as a fast shop project, a gift build, or a foundation to customize with your own branding.
Note: Be sure to print at 100% scale for accurate sizing.

Instructions
There is currently no video instructions for this template set.
The good news is, its probably the easiest project we have in our library. It’s literally just a square with pinched corners.
After tracing your pattern and marking the holes on your leather, cut out the valet tray and punch all of the holes.
You have several options when it comes to “boxing” the corners depending on the result you’re going for. In the photo examples above, we used copper rivets for a permanent fit. You could also try using button studs or snap fasteners if you want a valet tray that can be disassembled for flat storage.
Make sure to use the correct size hole punch that suits the post of the rivet or fastener you choose!
Leather Selection
In this example photos we used 3-4oz (1.2mm -1.4mm) natural veg tan leather from Wickett & Craig. You have a wide variety of options when it comes to this design but Ill say this:
If you plan on doing a stitched version (2 layers like we did above) you will be better suited with a thin leather less than 5oz. Especially if its on the firmer side of things. If you want to do a single layer valet tray, you can use substantially thicker leather. We would suggest 7-8oz.
