Project Instructions
Introducing The MAKESUPPLY Standard
This template set—and all new sets going forward—uses an updated instructional format we call The MAKESUPPLY Standard. Instructions now begin after all pieces are cut and stitching holes are punched, whether you’re using paper PDF templates, laser files, or acrylic templates.
Following The MAKESUPPLY Standard is optional—you can still complete this project using your own preferred workflow.
We don’t have a video for this one yet but its VERY simple. First step, trace the pattern on your leather. Second, cut out the template (and punch all the stitching holes). Third (and final) step, fold the leather in half and line up the holes you punched out. Stitch it up!
Leather Selection
In the photo examples we used Navy Pueblo leather in thickness 3.5-4oz (1.2mm – 1.4mm). For this project I recommend no more than 5oz leather thickness unless you plan on doing some extensive skiving.
Guidelines of Template Usage
We put a lot of time and effort into producing these templates, videos, and blog posts. Please do not distribute the template you have purchased from MAKESUPPLY. It’s not cool and hurts our feelings (CRY EMOJI). And we have eyes EVERYWHERE.
However, you are free to do whatever you want with the end product you create using the template.
