In this project we will be laser cutting and hand stitching a custom leather wallet. With the ready availability of smaller and more affordable laser cutting machines (like the Glowforge) you can now quickly cut and customize your own leather wallets. Cut the pattern directly out of leather or cut your own cardboard and acrylic pattern sets!

Leather Suggestions

To make this style of wallet the type of leather doesnt matter quite as much as the thickness. Since you will have several layers (3 total) stacked at the thickest section, its crucial you dont start with leather that is too thick. We suggest 3oz to 4oz (1.2 – 1.6mm) as an “all-around” good weight. If you still feel it is too bulky you will need to skive the edges to get a more streamlined look.

We put a lot of time and effort into producing these templates, videos, and blog posts. Please do not distribute the template you have purchased from Makesupply. It’s not cool and hurts our feelings (CRY EMOJI). However, you are free to do whatever you want with the end product you create using the template design. Even sell them on Etsy!
